Ironic Demo

Definitions

Optional x - denotes the priority of of the optional component.  1 denotes a high priority optional component and 5 denotes the least priority optional component possible. 

Description

The essence of the demo is a spear throwing contest where players try to heave a spear further than other players. Players have a few basic stats which improve over time. Additionally, players will be able to join guilds where the guilds are able to compete against each other based upon their member's performance.
Players will be able to stroll about the scenic forest and stop off for an ale at a small hunting lodge, turned tavern.
Players will have their rankings published on a web site and the current distance champion gets to wear a special armor denoting their preeminence * among their peers.

Locations

Here we'll describe the various places you can visit in the demo. 

Initial Log In Area

The Plaque - When the player logs in they are facing a plaque, which they can read.  The plaque details the basic commands in the demo, where the different areas of the game is, and the various things you can do (spear throwing, hang out at the tavern or wander around the forest)

Spear Range

This is a wide open field with a nice line drawn on one end.  Throughout the range are targets, which are of a standardized kind (deer shaped or some other wildlife that hunters favor).

Field Master who keeps track of spears.
try and walk out of the range with one and you get insulted by him
you have to pay for spears if you use / lose too many

Gameplay

What happens when you throw spears at stuff you don't want them to
some items can be targeted and others cannot
ducks fly away
pcs / npcs and other animals, the spear would just bounce off
radius + distance go into figuring high scores
Spear Throwing
a hit is a hit... targets are std in the range
players can setup a target or define areas in the target w/thier own tournies (which have prizes)
basic spear training through a plaque or npc
hold in position too long and camera will shake and weakness (players can see this)
bar increases and you can throw past your max 9could be a great throw or a catastrophic failure
furthest throw that hits a target is the champ (other throws are listed)
accuracy top 10 lists for different accuracy ranges
spear wobbles when thrown
canopy collisions in a tree are optional (if we have time)
Client Stuff
Could hit mouse button or key to go into aiming mode
when planed into aiming mode in 3rd person camera is locked into an over the shoulder view and the player is given a crosshair
when in first person mode nothing changes except the player is given a crosshair
random shake from the start gets worse over time
movement makes the shake worse
shake is based on skill / accuracy

60 players not a technical limit just to prevent overcrowding

If a new add then throw back into character selection after mode after the Add was complete by the character

dragging to an area creates a semi-transparent copy of the object and it will dock with sticky points like the edge of a screen or the edge of a window

if you drag an object on to another window it will split the windows according to the location (objects on the RH side would get a hor split and on the bottom would get a vert split.

Frames between borders can be drug around and resized

Master frames themselves can be resized

alt click and dragging into a window will create a tab

task bar (only appears if something is minimized)
